Anambra Elections: INEC Suspends Declaration of Results

Results from the November 6th Anambra State elections were called for the 20 of the 21 local government areas of the state into the early hours of Monday.

There was no result called for the Ihiala LGA as no elections held there. This, according to the Returning Officer, Professor Florence Obi, was a result of security challenges among other challenges which prevented The Commission from deploying electoral materials to the local government area.

She said that “We have collated results for 20 out of the 21 local government areas,”

“The outstanding results are for Ihiala Local Government Area where for various reasons, the commission could not deploy materials yesterday (Saturday).

“Consequently, based on Constitutional considerations and provisions of the Electoral Act as well as revised regulations and guidelines for the conduct of election issued by the commission, a supplementary election is indicated for Ihiala Local Government Area.”

She also stated that a supplementary elections will be conducted in Ihiala LGA on Tuesday 9th November, 2021 afterwards the collation will continue.
