The Defence Headquarters says that Thirteen Boko Haram terrorists, along with six women and 17 children from the village of Kodila, surrendered to the soldiers of the 151st Task Force Battalion at Banki Junction in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno.
Coordinator, Activities of the Defence Media, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, announced this.
Enenche said the terrorists surrendered due to sustained aerial bombardment and aggressive intensive clearance operation by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East.
He said the suspects and members of their families who surrendered on Saturday were receiving medical treatment at a military medical center.
According to him, in handling such cases, the suspects are currently undergoing thorough profiling and investigation in line with global best practices.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies remain resolute, determined and committed to sustaining the tempo of the operations,” he said.
